"Daily access limit reached without PSU presence" – what does this mean?

Explains why you see this bank synchronisation message in Catacloud and what to do about it.

Are you seeing this message next to the last synchronisation on your bank account?

Last synchronisation: [date] (Daily access limit reached without PSU presence)

It means your bank has temporarily stopped the automatic retrieval of transactions. Here's why – and what to do.

What does the message mean?

The bank integration in Catacloud fetches transactions and balances automatically in the background – without you having to do anything. However, banks are permitted to limit how many times this can happen per day without the account holder being actively present. This is a requirement under EU regulations for online banking (PSD2/Open Banking).

When that limit is reached, the bank stops further automatic retrieval and returns the message "Daily access limit reached without PSU presence" – meaning the daily limit for access without the account holder present has been reached.

This is not an error in Catacloud, and there is nothing wrong with your account setup. It is a security rule that applies to all accounting systems using Open Banking.

What do you do?

You have two options:

  • Wait until the next day. The limit resets automatically every 24 hours, and synchronisation will resume on its own.

  • Disconnect and reconnect to force synchronisation. Go to Administration → Bank, find the bank account and click Options → Disconnect. Then reconnect the account to the bank and approve a new consent with BankID. Once the new consent is active, the bank registers that the account holder is present and synchronisation runs again. See the article Bank consent: create, delete and renew for detailed steps.

Why does this happen?

Under PSD2 regulations, banks can set a limit of typically 4 automatic fetch requests per 24 hours without the account holder being active. If you are an active user who synchronises frequently during the day – or you use the system across multiple devices – the limit can be reached faster than usual.

Your bank consent is still valid. Only the automatic background retrieval has been temporarily paused.
